Obstructions such as cycle path barriers and diversions are necessary from time to time – usually for safety reasons or due to construction work. There are currently two places on the Drau Cycle Path with diversions in place.
Villach urban area
A new bridge is being built in Villach, requiring the cycle path to be diverted. The diversion is signed. Please follow the diversion signs.
Villach - Rosegg section
From Rosegg, the cycle path has been diverted to avoid a safety blackspot (the current route is already shown in the Bikeline cycle path guide!). The cycle path signs already point the way to the diverted sections. Nevertheless, many cyclists fail to leave the path alongside the Drau, because they think that the cycle path continues along it. However, this path ends at a barrier that cannot be passed! This point is at risk of landslides. Please take the signed cycle path towards Rosegg.

On a cycle path the length of the Drau Cycle Path, our hardworking cycle path officers may not discover everything straight away and they look forward to receiving any information about problem areas.
